    The number of electric vehicles is steadily growing and commercial fleet owners follow this trend. However, the charging of fleets has a major impact on the already stressed power grid. To prevent negative impact on the grid, it is necessary to schedule charging processes. This charging scheduling should not only utilize the existing charging infrastructure and the available resources, but it should furthermore allow an optimized charging schedule, e.g. in terms of cost reduction. This scheduling problem is complex and it needs significant information about infrastructure and fleet in order to create a viable charging schedule. However, not all of the relevant information is always available. For this reason, this paper analysis the possibilities to create a charging schedule with missing information. To achieve this, the paper provides a detailed description of the charging scheduling problem for a day ahead planning and the necessary input parameters. It clarifies the influence of the input parameters on the viability and optimality of a charging schedule. On this base, the paper establishes data sets with different degrees of scheduling possibilities. Further, the paper analyses the affectation of missing input parameters on the scheduling and it provides possible solutions to approximate the missing parameters under the proposition to guarantee the viability of a charging schedule.

    XCP Service Integration for Model-Based, Automatic Production Code Generation

    Automated, model-based production code generation is widely used in the development and testing of electronic control units (ECUs). During ECU commissioning, extensive tests of the implemented control algorithms are required. Knowledge of the internal values and states of the ECU software are essential for verifying the correct software functionality by means of complex control algorithms. Calibration and measurement services make it possible to observe the ECU-internal memory values associated with the variables originating from the function model. Furthermore, the final adjustment of control parameters in the production ECU can be performed by means of calibration services. For these reasons, calibration and measurement through service integration is widely applied in both the automotive industry and other industrial fields. Integrating measurement and calibration services is therefore an important task for engineers working with model-based control development and, particularly, ECU production code integration. This paper describes an example integration of the Universal Measurement and Calibration Protocol (XCP) for model-based automatic code generation. The application used for the service integration is the commercially available Motor Control Education Kit (MEDKit) from Emerge-Engineering and dSPACE GmbH. The model-based automatic code generation is performed using the production code generator dSPACE TargetLink. The integration of the XCP on CAN protocol is completed in the scope of student projects. The upgraded MEDKit demonstrator will be used for education purposes in the Deggendorf Institute of Technology.

    The use of digital solutions to support rural areas, and in particular elderly people, is the goal of the ‘Digitales Dorf’ and ‘BLADL’ research projects. This work assessed seniors’ media literacy in two model communities; with the result that fear of fraudster and lack of knowledge are the most common causes that prevent elderly people from using digital technologies. Based on these evaluation results, a combined training offer of tutorial and digital consultation hour was developed and evaluated.

    In 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been enforced providing a new legal framework with rules and regulations for processing personal data. The requirement for distinguishing between purposes has been introduced, leading to the necessity of adapting existing authentication and authorization processes. We introduce a detailed authentication and authorization extension, which is able to verify requests on personal data based on the Layered Privacy Language (LPL). This extension is evaluated in the form of a benchmark, utilizing the Policy-based De-identification, to demonstrating its efficiency and suitability for data-warehouses.

    Delegation of Authentication to the Data Plane in Software Defined Networks

    OpenFlow is considered as the most known protocol for Software Defined Networking (SDN). The main drawback of OpenFlow is the lack of support of new header definitions, which is required by network operators to apply new packet encapsulations. While SDN's logically centralized control plane could enhance network security by providing global visibility of the network state, it still has many side effects. The intelligent controllers that orchestrate the dumb switches are overloaded and become prone to failure. Delegating some level of control logic to the switches can offload the controllers from local state based decisions that do not require global network-wide knowledge. Thus, this paper, to the best of our knowledge, is the first to propose the delegation of typical security functions from specialized middleboxes to the data plane. We leverage the opportunities offered by P4 language to implement the functionality of authenticating nodes using port knocking. Our experimental results indicate that our proposed technique improves the network overall availability by offloading the controller as well as reducing the traffic in the network without noticeable negative impact on switches' performance.

    Heutzutage sind automatisierte Shuttlebusse noch eher selten im öffentlichen Straßenverkehr zu finden. Feldstudien sind daher unumgänglich, um eine Analyse der existierenden Möglichkeiten und nötigen technischen Maßnahmen zur Integration dieser Fahrzeuge in den öffentlichen Personennahverkehr (ÖPNV) zu erproben. Da es sowohl technisch als auch rechtlich noch Einschränkungen der Nutzung automatisierter Fahrzeuge gibt, stellt sich die Frage, ob potenzielle Routen, die diesen Rahmenbedingungen gerecht werden, automatisiert ermittelt werden können. Allerdings ist die Erstellung eines Modells zur Identifikation von Strecken für automatisierte Fahrzeuge unter den gegebenen rechtlichen Randbedingungen noch nicht näher betrachtet worden. Die hier verwendeten Parameter sind auf Grundlage der Ergebnisse einer Studie in Bad Birnbach, Bayern entstanden. Im Vergleichsraum Bayern wurden ca. 100 Strecken identifiziert, auf welchen man einen automatisierten Shuttlebus im derzeitigen technisch-rechtlichen Rahmen weiter testen könnte. Die sich stetig weiterentwickelnde Technologie und die teils unvollständige Attribuierung der verwendeten Daten (offizielle Verkehrsdaten ATKIS, OpenStreetMap aus dem Jahr 2018) erfordern eine Überprüfung der Ergebnisse vor Ort sowie eine laufende Fortschreibung des Modells.

    This paper presents a new method to produce different kinds of RF waveguides with reduced attenuation on low cost PCB substrates. First, microstrip (MS) and grounded coplanar waveguides (GCPW) are characterized by considering rough conductors in CST Microwave Studio. Next, laminate is partially removed, to increase the electromagnetic field ratio in air. Accordingly, the dielectric losses are reduced and the electrical length is decreased. These conductors are produced by using a CO 2 laserdrilling machine to remove the undesired substrate. The RF performance (DC to 100 GHz) of these waveguides is compared to transmission lines manufactured in conventional PCB technology. Finally, different kinds of simulated and produced microstrip filters are shown and fabrication tolerances are compared to those produced in standard technology.

    For an effective protection of the communication in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) facing e.g. threats by quantum computers in the near future, it is necessary to examine the applicability of quantum-resistant mechanisms in this field. It is the aim of this article to survey possible candidate schemes utilizable on sensor nodes and to compare the energy consumption of a selection of freely-available software implementations using a WSN-ready Texas Instruments CC1350 LaunchPad ARM® Cortex®-M3 microcontroller board.

    A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) contains small sensor nodes which monitor physical or environmental conditions. WSN is an important technology for digitalization of industrial periphery and is often used in environments which are not hardened against security impacts. These networks are easy to attack due to the open communication medium and low computing resources of the applied devices. Establishing security mechanisms is difficult while taking into account low energy consumption. Low cost sensors with limited resources make the implementation of cryptographic algorithms even more challenging. For WSNs cryptographic functions are needed without high impact on energy consumption and latency. Therefore, security in WSNs is a challenging field of research. This paper compares lightweight energy-efficient key exchange protocols which are suitable for WSN. The protocols were also implemented in WSN-capable Texas Instrument boards and the energy consumption was measured during the key exchange. This paper shows that schemes have to be chosen depending on the specific network requirements and that the usage of asymmetric cryptography does not always result in a high energy consumption.

    This paper discusses the impact of ICT for creating sustainable rural regions. An empirical analysis of 255 Bavarian communes in 2018 showed, that there is a lack of digital content on the communes' homepages. New ideas are needed for participation and communication in rural communes. To close this gap, PUB in PLAN, a digital participation platform was initiated. This platform is the basement for new, smart and effective participation projects using digital and analog forms of moderation for sustainable and intelligent city developments.
